To get rid of seromas that don't go away, your doctor may inject an irritant into the space left by the removed tissue. This method, called sclerotherapy, is meant to help the body heal by filling in the empty space. Seromas that come back may need a new drainage tube or, less often, surgery to drain the fluid.
